What is the Safe Digital Society Initiative?

It is a free educational initiative presented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) in partnership with Cisco Global Foundation (Cisco) that offers distance learning in cybersecurity essentials, network principles, information technology (IT), programming, internet of things (IoT) and data science.

What are the initiative’s objectives?

The initiative aims at raising the societal awareness of information technology and promoting digital literacy through distance learning and qualification to achieve the following objectives:
  • Support and improve the safe use of online services

  • Benefit from learning about modern fields

  • Learn about how to protect personal and private data while using e-learning methods and online meetings

What are the target groups?

Registration is available to all segments of the Egyptian society of computer, social media and internet users.

What advantages do I get through the initiative?

In addition to having a free training program on distance learning, the enrolment in the initiative’s bundles of training programs will offer you two additional advantages:
  • Upon successfully passing the required final international online exam(s) of the training syllabus(s) you have selected, you will get a certificate, approved by the MCIT and Cisco that will be sent to your registered address on the initiative’s website by post.

  • Only through the initiative, you can combine more than one training syllabus; when successfully passing the required final international online exams of these training syllabus(s), you will get a certificate for each bundle, approved by the MCIT and Cisco.

By the end of the training course and once the trainees have successfully passed the required final international online exams (according to the selected bundles), only through the initiative, an approved certificate by the MCIT and Cisco will be sent to their registered address at the initiative’s website by post.

How can I register for the initiative?

  • Register through the official website of the initiative http://www.basicict.gov.eg

  • Select the desired syllabus(s)

  • An email with a link for each training course will be sent to the trainees to confirm their enrollment in the training course

*Please make sure all data is correct to ensure safe communication with you through all the stages of the training course and until you receive the certificate.

What should I do after registering my data on the initiative’s website?

  • 1-   Registration of trainees on the learning platform link of the service provider, included in the initiative’s registration form, will be completed.
  • 2-  An account for each trainee will be created and a username and a password will be provided.
  • 3-  Trainees will study the learning material through the service provider learning platform based on self-learning form.
  • 4-  Trainees will take an online international exam by the end of the training course.
  • 5-  Trainees will find their certificates online upon successful completion of the training course and can print it out.
  • 6-  Trainees will receive their certificates by post at their registered addresses through the initiative.

How can I get the learning material (s)?

You can get the learning material by registering your data on the initiative’s website and completing your registration on the learning platform of the service provider to receive a username and a password.

What are the components of the free learning material Bundle?

  • Digital learning material for each training syllabus selected by the trainee upon registration.

  • Online visual learning content (video).

  • Online exam for each syllabus.

  • Two certificates upon successfully passing the required final international online exam of each syllabus:

    • An online certificate that you can print out upon passing the exam.

    • A certificate, approved by the MCIT and Cisco, that will be sent to the trainees by post at their registered addresses through the initiative.

Is the learning material available in more than one language?

  • The video learning material is available in English only, except for the course “Introduction to Cybersecurity” (First level), which is available in both Arabic and English languages.

What is the learning mechanism?

  • Through distance learning by using free digital and video learning materials.

Is there a specific time to attend the training?

  • You can attend the training through an interactive online training content, and pass the required final international online exams through Cisco Academy platform on distance learning basis according to your suitable time during the specified period for each phase (three months).

What should I do after taking the training course?

Take the final international online exam(s) designed for the syllabus/syllabuses you selected to measure your knowledge of theoretical and practical information contained in the selected syllabus and to get a certificate.

What is the training duration period availed?

The training duration period is (Max 3 months) as of the announcement of each phase.

How can I know the specific end date for each training course?

You can know the specific end date for each course upon signing in for your account on the Cisco Academy platform.

What should I do if I did not pass the required final international online exam(s) before the specified period?

We regret to inform you that in case the required final international online exams on Cisco Academy platform are not passed before the date indicated (Hyper link with the previous question)on the platform for each course, in this case the trainee is not entitled to obtain an accredited certificate from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.

How can I choose an additional course(s) in case of selecting one course upon registration?

You’re kindly requested to send a request for the additional course(s) you want to add, by sending an e-mail to (bict.info@mcit.gov.eg) including your correct data as follows:
  • Quadruple name

  • The 14 digits of your national ID

  • Your registered cellular phone number on the database

  • The name of the course to be added

What can I do when the registration period of the announced phase of the initiative ends?

You can register on the initiative website and your data will be included in the list of registrants until launching the next phase of the initiative. By the beginning of the new phase, you will be notified via your email with the registration link on Cisco Academy website and the identification code for the certificates or syllabuses that have been registered, in order to allow the maximum benefit from the set period of the announced phase (a period of 3 months as of the activation date for registration for the active phase)

How can I get the certificate?

At the end of the training course, and upon successfully passing the required final international online exams (according to the chosen bundle), an accredited “printed” certificate will be sent from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the Cisco international corporation. The printed certificate to be sent by Post (Egypt Post) to the address of the trainee registered on the official initiative website.

What is a Cisco.com account?

This is the new way to login to CiscoNetAcad.com; it was added for more safety and to improve the login experience for CiscoNetAcad.com users.

How can I login?

You can login by using the password and email of NetAcad. If you already have a Cisco.com account with the same email you use in NetAcad., login using the password and email of Cisco.com

What should I do if I cannot login to the learning platform?

If you cannot login using the password and email of NetAcad or Cisco.com, please try this:
  • Use the email instead of the screen name (display name)

  • If you receive an email to confirm compliance, follow the instructions to solve the problem

  • If you forget your password, use the link “forgot my password”

  • If you are still unable to login, contact the customer service of the initiative (click here)

I have a Cisco.com account; can I use it to login to the learning platform of CiscoNetaAcad.com?

Applicants who already had Cisco.com account and CiscoNetAcad.com account with the same emails should use their credentials of Cisco.com to login.

Applicants who already had both accounts, but with different emails, should use their credentials of Cisco.com to login.

What should I do, if I cannot verify my email because I cannot access my email account?

Users of the initiative are required to verify their email addresses for security reasons. If you cannot access your email account, please follow these steps:
  • Contact the customer service of the initiative (click here) to change your email address.

  • As soon as you change your email address, you will receive an email with an invitation

  • Follow the link to create a new Cisco.com account and to access your current NetAcad.com account

How can I change my password on the learning platform?

You can control your password by following these steps:
  • Go to the learning platform of the service provider.

  • Select “forgot my password” in the drop-down menu to login

  • Enter your email address and click on “continue”

  • You will see a message for the verification of your identity, select “by email”

  • • A new page will appear informing you that a code was sent to your email. Enter the code. Now you can update your password. As soon as you set your password, you will see a link “login”. Enter the new password to access the website.

I cannot find the activation email. How can I get a copy?

In order to start using CiscoNetAcad.com, you will need an activation email. To resend the email to you, please follow these steps:
  • Go to the learning platform of the service provider

  • In the top left corner, select “login’

  • select “resend activation email”

  • Enter the email address and select “resend activation email”

Should I verify my email on Cisco.com?

Yes. All applicants are required to verify their email addresses to have better support before getting access.
